US Spanish American War Artillery M1881 Sun Pith Helmet Horstmann Super NICE!

For sale here is a very fine US Indian Wars through Spanish American War M1881 Sun Helmet Pith Helmet Shako.  This helmet was made by Horstmann of Philadelphia, but the date is illegible.  As you can see, this helmet is complete with Artillery Eagle plate and spike.  As you can also so, the chin strap was broken in several places.  There is a loose piece of strap included, but it is NOT the full length.  I recently purchased this at an auction, and the strap was complete and in place prior to bidding, but it was broken during preview.  Luckily a lot of the strap is still there, so you can copy or try to fix this one.  Obviously, the chin strap is brittle and appears to be made of a yellowed white leather.  The eagle plate and spike show nice even and matched patina.  The cork helmet shell is very nice with no obvious signs of dents or damage.  The exterior cover of the helmet shows yellowing and some staining, but is clean for what it is.  The interior lining of the helmet shows age, wear, and sweat stains, but is very nice.  All of the cork pads are present and the leather sweatband looks good and is fairly supple.  The helmet is marked size 7, and the Horstmann stamp is under the sweatband.  This is an extremely nice sun helmet that will display very well.  Please not the ghosting of the chin strap.  Otherwise, this is super fine.
