Size: 7.72 ft X 10.91 ft. Made of Cotton with stars and stripes sown on both sides.
This is a rare 45-star US Navy flag. Two gromet naval type

era U.S. Navy battleship

ensign flag. What gives this flag more character and value is that it is stamped with
light
ink mark "USS INDIANA No. 3" and
separately
"Phil. Navy Yard".
Historic flags are in high demand. This
particular
flag is
closely
associated to the USS Indiana. The flag is not in mint
condition but

The 45-star flag was adopted upon the addition of Utah as a state on July 4, 1896, until the addition of
Oklahoma
as a state on
July
4, 1908.
The USS Indiana (BB-1) was the lead ship in her class and the first battleship in
the
United States Navy. It was launched on 28 February 1893. She served in the
Spanish
American War (1898) as part of
the
North Atlantic Squadron.
She
took part in both the blockade of Santiago de Cuba
and the
Battle
of Santiago de Cuba. She spent most of her time as a
a training vessel
following the end of
the
war. She was decommissioned on 31
January
1919.
