Title:Antique Photo Album & Music Box
Description:
Presented for your consideration is this interesting photo album and music box combination. The top of the box is an 18 page photo album and the bottom is a music box. On the bottom of the base are ball feet with ornate brass accents at each of the corners. The sides are lined with fabric with a very ornate brass latch on the front. The top of the box (or cover of the album) is made of celluloid and has a large portrait of Admiral Dewey in the center with patriotic borders along the left and right hand sides. Dewey was the Admiral of the Navy during the Spanish-American War. He is the only person in U.S. history to have obtained this rank. He is best known for his victory at the Battle of Manila Bay during the war. The album pages are made of thick cardboard with openings for cabinet cards, tintypes and CDVs. The album has 23 cabinet cards, 1 CDV and 1 tintype in it. Two of the cabinet cards shows a bride and another shows twin girls. The rest of the photographs show individuals. There are no markings to indicate who the people are in the photographs. Past the last page in the album, the music box mechanisms can be seen. The music box has the songs "Army & Navy Waltz" and "Pusch Den Clouds." At the time of listing the music box is WORKING but can't be guaranteed due to shipping. This is noted on a label on the bottom of the box. The original instruction label and kickstand are on the bottom as well. Guaranteed to be antique. Dates to the late 1890s-early 1900s. This neat photo album and music box combination would make a great addition to any military, Spanish-American War or photographic memorabilia collection!
The exterior fabric has some fading and wear. The last page of the album (which acts as a cover for the music box) is disconnected from the base but could easily be glued back into place. Some loosening of the photo album binding. Typical wear from age and use. Overall in GOOD-VERY GOOD condition. Sold AS FOUND. Please refer to the photos for the absolute best details.
Measures 12 3/4" wide, 10 1/4" deep and 4" tall.
